Brighten the cold winter evenings by exploring highlights from some of France’s most prestigious red wine regions!
We’ll begin the series with an Introduction to Wine Tasting workshop, in which you’ll learn about the flavors of wine and the structural components professionals analyze in order to judge a wine’s quality.
We’ll then travel to the right & left banks of Bordeaux, the quintessential benchmark for red blends worldwide. Next, we’ll go southeast to taste & discuss the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and will end the series by heading north from there, to Burgundy, known for some of the finest Pinot Noir in the world.
These workshops contain focused information about the wines, regions, and often, their history, and are therefore recommended for learners who want a slightly more detailed or academic look at wine. We’ll be savoring tastes of these amazing wines throughout the course of each workshop! We’ll also cover general food pairing recommendations for these wines.
After each workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to talk about the wine you selected, and your impressions of it, in optional chat rooms — this is a perfect way to stay in touch with friends and family who live far away, to stay in touch with new parents who have their hands full at home, or to meet other wine enthusiasts from anywhere. (This is optional; it’s also perfectly fine to exit the meeting once the workshop ends.)
For people wanting to learn about wine with less structure and detail (and for a shopping list with wines generally on the more economical side of the spectrum) the Winter 2026 Sip-by-Sip series is instead recommended, and is a great way to get more familiar with wine tasting!
Registration for this Focus on France series will stay open until Saturday, January 17.
