(In Defense of) Marvelous Merlot | Bordeaux Blends, part “une”
Friday, January 23 @ 7:30pm EDT
Are you like Miles in the movie Sideways and have animosity towards Merlot? Discover the characteristics of this grape and the top-notch wines made predominantly from Merlot. This will require us to travel (virtually) to Bordeaux, France, of course, and take a look at the legendary “right-bank” wines. We’ll also discuss Merlot more generally, so you’ll leave this workshop with a good introduction to Merlot and also to the right bank of Bordeaux. (We’ll cover the left bank next month, in Bordeaux part “deux.”)
As is our usual practice, we’ll begin with a review of the five primary components of wine tasting, and end with optional breakout rooms!
Compelling Cab(ernet Sauvignon) | Bordeaux Blends, part “deux”
Friday, February 20 @ 7:30pm EDT
Explore Cabernet Sauvignon, the most prolific of all the wine grapes: it is the most widely-planted varietal! We’ll discuss its flavor profile (and how it changes slightly based on climate) and travel to regions having the best expressions of this grape, ending up back in Bordeaux, France, this month focusing on the legendary “left-bank” wines (which feature predominantly cab).
As is our usual practice, we’ll begin with a review of the five primary components of wine tasting, and end with optional breakout rooms.
