Explore wines of the world, from the comfort of home
Please see below for the general workshop format:
After you register for the series, you’ll receive a wine list with suggestions for which kinds of wines to purchase in advance of each class. There will be some variation in which brands participants choose based on where they shop, but the idea is that everyone will be tasting the same “styles” or types of wine.
Part 1: Journey to wine country
Each workshop consists of a 30–45-minute presentation of a grape type (“varietal”), associated wine styles, and the flavor characteristics that you can generally expect from that varietal or wine style.
We’ll also talk about the regions/countries having the best expressions of that grape, along with photos and images!
*We’ll take a 5-minute pause here for everyone to go get their wines*
Part 2: Guided Tasting
Laura will lead a guided tasting of the wine you purchased beforehand, with analysis of the characteristics discussed in Part 1. This means that you’ll get to apply your learning immediately, gaining practice identifying flavors and characteristics of wine.
You’ll walk away with knowledge you can use for your next trip to your favorite wine shop or the next time you’re making a selection from a restaurant wine list.
Part 3 (optional!): Chat about what you are tasting
After the class + guided tasting, there are optional breakout rooms to discuss what you are tasting!
You will select your breakout room preference (specific friends, or a room with any members, or choose to opt out) in advance of the workshop; a form will be emailed to you.
Perks Of Membership
Tango wine workshops are a fraction of the cost of formal wine education, and are presented in a more fun, less technical manner.
